God Never Changes

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8 (ESV)

It was a memorable year to say the least. We experienced a flood of changes in our family. Some were heartbreaking, some were challenging, and others were bittersweet.

These changes included emergency surgery, a job change, a church change, graduation, college and two deaths in our family to name a few.

My husband’s emergency medical surgery impacted the financial structure of our budget, but God provided all our needs during his three month healing period.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

God not only provided for all our needs during this timeframe, He even opened a door for me at a new job with a higher income and an excellent benefits package.

We experienced the joy of our son’s high school graduation and the bittersweet emotions of his leaving for college three months later.

Following my son’s leaving for college, there were two deaths on different sides of our family that occurred days apart. Our loss was heaven’s gain, but it still shattered our world.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4

In the midst of all of these events, we were faced with a change that would impact us spiritually. The Lord led us to another church after spending several years at our previous one.

We didn’t totally understand why at the time but we knew God was in control.

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9

Our hearts, our plans and our lives were definitely altered that year. Yet the Lord stayed true to His Word and never changed. He remained loving, faithful, full of grace and peace, steadfast and sure.

Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Hebrews 6:19

It’s been a few years since these events occurred, but thanks be to God for He is the same God with the same power in our lives today. How reassuring to know that God never changes!

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8
