God is a Promise Maker & Keeper

And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. Genesis 9:16

My husband and I went for a drive recently after a very severe thunderstorm. When we reached the stop sign at the entrance to our subdivision, we saw the most breathtaking double rainbow.

Seeing the rainbow in all its glory was a powerful reminder that God is a Promise Maker and a Promise Keeper:

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he  should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken,  and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19

Our city and the neighboring city is surrounded by a river that is steadily rising, flooding streets and homes closest to it. Mandatory evacuations in those areas have already taken place.

Many other areas in the surrounding counties are also experiencing devastation and it is heartbreaking to witness. There are news reports of families losing their homes, cars, livestock and all their possessions.

In the midst of all this devastation, there are also reports of many who are grateful of the fact that they and their family are alive.

I cannot begin to know or understand what this kind of loss feels like. But I do understand heartache and devastation, and I know that God is able to care, comfort and provide because His Word is forever faithful.

When God makes a promise, He keeps it.

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Isaiah 43:2

What has God promised you? Keep believing and trusting the Lord and His Word because Jesus is not only a Promise Maker, He is a Promise Keeper.
