You Are Awesome In This Place

I love listening to praise and worship music. Almost every morning, I wake up with a song on my mind. Recently, I woke up to a song I haven’t heard or thought of in years. Part of the lyrics include, “You are awesome in this place, mighty God.”

It brought back a sweet memory of the first time I heard it while driving to work. God used the lyrics of this song to remind me of His love, His power, and His presence during the hardest part of my previous marriage.

And in my car, driving on a congested freeway, He wanted me to know He is awesome. I was able to focus less on myself and my problems, and focus more on Him.

The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation. II Samuel 22:47

God is Omnipresent, meaning He is everywhere, and I started thinking of all the other “places” He has reminded me of how awesome He is. I’d like to share a few of these with you.

Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else. Deuteronomy 4:39

I listen to music at work to help with the stress of deadlines, projects and endless emails. And sometimes I have to shut my door – He is awesome in this place.

Cooking or cleaning our home and many times stopping what I’m doing to lift my hands in worship – He is awesome in this place.

Walking into my toddler’s bedroom and seeing her kneeling at her rocking chair, arms lifted high, praising God – He is awesome in this place.

Kneeling on the bedroom floor with my face buried in the carpet, eyes swollen and chest pounding from weeping – He is awesome in this place.

Facing a judge alone in a courtroom, saying goodbye to a failed marriage – He is awesome in this place.

“Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” Genesis 28:16

Opening the front door of my home to coworkers standing there with gifts, food and a much needed refrigerator for a single mother of three – He is awesome in this place.

Standing in a gazebo on a starlit night, marrying a wonderful man of God after eight years of singleness – He is awesome in this place.

Life hits us hard sometimes and other times we experience victory, joy and peace. God wants to assure us He is awesome anywhere, anytime.

What place in your life does He want you to know – He is awesome in this place?

For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth. Psalm 47:2
