When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3 (ESV)
I used to have a fear of flying. It took me 40 years to even board a plan but once I did, I found that it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. That is, until we encountered air turbulence!
My heart started to beat at a fast rate and I had to tell myself to breathe and pray. It lasted a couple of minutes but it felt like an hour.
Thankfully, the highly trained pilot knew how to maneuver through it, and we came out of it just fine. I’ve been on a few more flights since then and I’ve noticed that not all flights experience turbulence.
When you think about it, flying can be compared to our lives as Christians.
Our lives will not always go as planned and we will definitely encounter some sort of “turbulence.” There will be events that shake our world and change it forever, and then there will be events that bring us short-term challenges.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
God has promised He will always be with us, on the good days and on the challenging, hard days. He will be there to get us through every turbulent moment of our lives.
My husband and I will be boarding a plane very soon and I don’t know if we will experience any turbulence. But if we do, I will trust the One who is in charge of my destination. I will have no fear in Jesus Name!
I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4
