Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. II Corinthians 9:15
Most of the presents were opened and wrapping paper was scattered all over the floor as the children excitedly played with their new toys.
The few presents remaining under the tree were to be opened later by other family members. But what if no one else wanted to open their gift?
That would be sad since I took the time and thought to carefully choose a gift for my loved ones.
And then I wonder if that’s how Jesus feels too when He has so many gifts to give us and we will not “open” them.
All the gifts the Lord gives us are far more valuable than any under the tree and it is clear in His Word that Jesus loves giving gifts.
The wise men brought gifts to the One who was THE GIFT:
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:11
But these do not compare to the gifts He in turn gives us:
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17
The Lord doesn’t have a return policy either:
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Romans 11:29
He will not take them back but He does want us to open them.
Some of His amazing gifts include the sacrifice He made on the cross, His righteousness, peace & joy in the Holy Ghost, counsel and supplier of all our needs to name just a few.
All we have to do is ask Him for the gifts we need:
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matthew 7:11
We don’t have to wait until Christmas to open the gifts God give us. Christmas can be ours every day!
