He’s an on Time God

Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Micah 7:7

I was working at a law firm earning a very good salary. The only drawback was that it was far from home. The commute was long and Houston traffic made it longer. I would leave early in the morning and come home late in the evening and didn’t get to spend much time with my children. After eighteen months of doing this I began to pray about a new job closer to home.

What Are You Afraid Of?

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

Parenting teenagers can be difficult & scary at times. There will be moments when we will have to speak to our teens about negative behaviors or wrong choices. Teens deal with so much already and it can feel like we are nagging them or being critical of them when all we want to do is help them through this journey called life. Sometimes we can be intimidated by their response, lack of response or the dreaded rolling of the eyes!

I Can Do What?

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13

My children learned this scripture early on in life. It was my favorite response every time they would tell me “I can’t (fill in the blank).” God’s words finally sunk in because one day, my oldest son started to say “I can’t” when I asked him to do something and he realized immediately that my response would be “I can do what?” and he ended up quoting the scripture himself!

When the Bathroom is Your Prayer Closet

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Matthew 6:6

I once lived in a very small house and finding a quiet place to pray when everyone was awake was complicated to say the least. Someone was always in need or want of my time and energy; I was a mom and wife after all. Like most moms and wives, I would pray when everyone was asleep.

My Alabaster Box of Ointment

I was a visitor that day, but I felt the warm welcome of my soon to be Savior. Oh, I’d heard about Him, went to church as a child and learned about how He died for my sins. But I never really knew Him until that hot, humid September night. The altar was beckoning me throughout the entire sermon.

Worshipping through Words

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33:3

Jeremiah 33:3 was the foundation scripture of my new life as a Christian on a mission for spiritual growth. After Jesus saved me, and filled me with His Love and His Spirit, I was so hungry and anxious to know everything I could about Him. I have been living for Him and serving Him for 20+ years and the days just get sweeter and sweeter!
