Herding Cats or Thoughts?

Herding cats or thoughts

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; II Corinthians 10:5

Which is harder, herding cats or thoughts? When someone says “It’s like herding cats,” they often mean they are trying to manage some kind of chaos like cats running everywhere, which can be extremely frustrating (even if it is a little funny).

Grace Taught Me Grace

Grace taught me grace

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Ephesians 1:7

I wanted to die. I didn’t want to kill myself but I wanted to die. I was at the point that I was thinking if someone would just wreck into me on the road so that I could die, I would not be responsible for my death. Why did I want to die? I had failed. Again. I was supposed to know better. I lived for God after all and I proclaimed to love Him. But one wrong decision caused a lot of pain and almost unbearable consequences.

How sweet it is!

How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Psalm 119:103

I used to have such an insatiable sweet tooth. I craved a sweet treat every single day. Then one night during my Bible reading, I read this week’s focus scripture. I probably had a bowl of ice cream too as I did most nights when reading before bedtime!

I may not be rich but I am wealthy.

The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. Psalm 16:6

I may not be rich but I am wealthy when it comes to family. I can remember as a small child being asleep and hearing my mother come into my room to pray. I didn’t understand every word because she was praying in Spanish. But I understood enough to know she was talking to God. She prayed constantly for her family and still does to this day.

Jesus, Hear Me. Amen.

Carly PrayingJesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (ESV)

“Jesus, hear me. Amen.” These four short words spoken by my 2-year old granddaughter Carly is her prayer before she eats and at bedtime. We all giggled when we first heard her say these words but the more I thought about her simple prayer, the more I realized just how power packed these few words are. I mean think about it, just the Name of Jesus alone is powerful and magnificent!

Three is Not a Crowd

I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine…Song of Solomon 6:3

I’ve often heard it said that if you are not happy as a single person, you will not be happy as a married person. You have to be content being single because if you’re miserable single, you’ll be miserable married!

I was divorced and certainly had no desire to remarry. I was happy and content – most of the time. There were days that I wanted to have someone to share my day with, to talk about life with and to have someone take care of the car maintenance! Thankfully, I was filled with an abundant joy of the Lord that those days were few and far between.
